what do you do if there is a tree in the way of the target you wish to image…..

Well this was the dilemma for me on friday night.... So i had to swing back to an object which i have done before but this will show the improvement in my skills for the image The image was the cocoon nebulae which is a faint nebula obscured by a lot of dust. The image was 10 x 20 min images and processed using the automated alignment procedures in pix insight followed by manual levels etc.
Using the wavelet background enhancement to see if this will bring more the faint nebulosity out

This was the first night for a long time. Everything setup easy and imaging was a breeze. the sky conditions were good with reasonable seeing. The moon was to rise at about 11pm so a short session prior to the moon rising was in order. The image of the cocoon nebulae is a composite of 10 x 10 min exposures through the FLT110 with the AFRIV and ST8300C. The images were dark subtracted and stacked then further processed in Nebulosity and finally balanced in Photoshop.     ic5146 cocoon Nebulae click to get full size image.
